Trendshaper: Printed Leggings, Yay or Nay?

Trendshaper is our rather lame attempt at a catchy phrase to encapsulate an occasional series where we will look at a potentially divisive fashion item. To kick us off, were going to start with one of the most controversial fashions of recent or any years: printed leggings.

The Case For - Printed Leggings are a great fun item of clothing. They can be worn in a number of situations and can be an excellent compliment for loads of looks - they are great for showing off your long legs!. Some of the trendiest of celebrities agree, with everyone from Mischa Barton to M.I.A being seelarly in printed leggings. There are a wide range of styles available to choose from and you can pay whatever price you want, from £10 to £395 for these leggings from Alexander McQueen.

The Case Against - Printed Leggings are a classic case of retro gone too far -  we just don't need them anymore. There are plenty of other styles that can give similar looks without making you look silly - whats wrong with a pair of skinny jeans?. Also, many of us are not blessed with the body type to carry off this leggings look - sadly, this doesn't stop alot of people trying.
